Both of his previous books have been groundbreaking and have paved the way for even further significant research. "Secret Histories" is as relevant this year as it was two years ago -- and it will remain a valuable textbook for college classes in government and politics for years to come. His movies are among America's best -- from the Academy Award-winning film on Klaus Barbie to his more recent one on the theft of nuclear materials and knowledge. This new book promises to be equally striking! FROM THE FRONT OF MY HOUSE, IN THE TOP OF A DYING WHITE OAK TREE, TRAVELED DOWN THE SIDE OF THE 2FT. AROUND OAK, TAKING BIG SPLINTERS, AND SHOOTING THEM VERTICALLY LIKE BIG ARROWS FROM A GIANT CROSSBOW THUR THE AIR.. ONE PIECE ABOUT 6FT. IN LENGTH, AND ABOUT 3INCH BY 3INCH, TRAVELED STRAIGHT THRU MY BEDROOM WALL OF MY HOUSE, EXPLODING PLASTER AND FIBERGLASS DEBRIS ALL OVER THE BED, AND ROOM..... AND LANDED ON THE CARPET INTERING MY LIVING ROOM... IT WAS SIMPLY AMAZING !!!, AND SHOT OTHER SMALLER PIECES THAT STUCK IN THE SIDING OF THE HOUSE, BUT DIDN'T PENETRATE THE INTERIOR WALL.. 152.216.7.5 Thu May 22 21:14:57 2008 I just finished reading “Out of the Blue” and found it to be fascinating. As a broadcast meteorologist for over 30 years, I have seen advances and value in lightning detection and education. There is a wealth of important lightning information in this book including history, physical attributes and safety advice. The book is fast reading and was extremely difficult to put down. The first hand reports (and quirks) from people who have been struck by lightning open the mind of the reader to pause and think about the value of life and religion. Why are some killed instantly while other walk away when struck? The story of the 13 member mountain climbing team ascending the Grand Tetons on July 26, 2003 explores the value of lightning safety, the human will to survive and the heroic struggle of those who came to the rescue when lightning struck. Every high school student (and their parents) should read this book. As many times as I've been interviewed I thought there may be a chance. A chap from London was the latest. Over my 69 years I've survived four (4) hits. I'm afraid one has done me in - or the results thereof. I'm not sorry I bought the book as it will help the unknowing public in understanding us "lightning bugs".
